“It is Necessary to Give New A Impetus to Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Relations:” NA Deputy Speaker
1 / 3

On December 22, the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of the RA NA Delegation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to Parliamentary Assembly (CSTO PA) received the Chair of the RF Federal Assembly State Duma Committee on the CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Links with Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov. The RA NA Deputy Speaker expressed his condolence on the occasion of the RF Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov’s terrorist assassination.

Eduard Sharmazanov has noted that the Armenian people know from their own experience what the state terrorism is: its vivid evidence is the Armenian Genocide perpetrated already 100 years ago, the destruction of thousands of cross stones in Nor Jugha by Azerbaijan in the 21st century and the April four-day war of this year.

“Both the destruction of Nor Jugha cross stones and the April war once again showed Azerbaijan’s terrorist nature,” the NA Deputy Speaker noted.

In the course of the meeting the parties highlighted the necessity of united fight against terrorism.

In his word the RA NA Deputy Speaker, as Head of the RA NA Delegation to the CSTO PA emphasizes the fact that the RF FA relevant Committee holds its first visiting sitting in Armenia.

Mr Sharmazanov particularly noted: “This once again shows that our relations are developing and the further development and deepening of the parliamentary relations stem from the interests of the two states, but nevertheless, I think that we should give a new impetus to the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary relations.”

Leonid Kalashnikov agreed with the NA Deputy Speaker’s viewpoint that the Armenian-Russian relations are at high level.

The sides highlighted the further development of the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary relations and the coordinated work in the inter-parliamentary structures.

Other issues of mutual interest were also debated.
